In 2011 Noel Gallagher released his first solo album after spending the last decade with Oasis titled "Noel Gallaghers High Flying Birds". Recording began in 2010 and was the first thing he worked on since leaving Oasis in 2009. Tracks listed on the album included some unreleased Oasis "B-Sides" including "Stop The Clocks" and other material Gallagher had written in his time with Oasis. The album went to number one in the UK as well as back home here in Ireland, it also went platinum twice in the UK with 900,000 sales. The album had its inevitable fair share of hits and singles including "The Death of You and Me" and " If I Had a Gun".

In 2005 the world got its first taster of the Arctic Monkeys when they released their debut single "I Bet That You Look Good on the Dancefloor" from the album "Whatever People Say I am That's What I'm Not". This song proved their ability in releasing music that spoke to teenagers around the world in relation to commonalities and general struggles of surviving those years. This single and the rest of the album has to be highly commended due to the fact that frontman and writer Alex Turner was only 19 when he was producing this material that some bands spend years to accomplish. The album would go on to be a commercial success by being the most sold debut album in the UK.
