OASIS

Again, I promise this isn't a "Wonderwall"           appreciation page. However, in honour of Liam Gallagher's 46th birthday I decided that "Definitely Maybe" would be the perfect way to start this weekly trend of 90s "Albums Of The Week".  In my opinion "Definitely Maybe" is the best British debut album, with a sound that electrified a generation into a mob of parka wearing maniacs. With singles such as "Live Forever" and "Supersonic"  the working class were woken up from their "post Beatles slumber" to be presented with songs everyone could relate to.

Brothers, Liam and Noel Gallagher were raised in a council flat in Manchester, England. When they weren't trying to kill each other they were defining a generation and writing seriously addictive lyrics. With Liam snarling on the vocals and Noel providing the material "Definitely Maybe" was released on August 24th 1994 by Creation Records.

When recording the album in 1993 they had hired a sound technician to operate how the album would sound. Noel was underwhelmed with the sounds that were being produced and was getting more frustrated as the recording continued. It was soon after this when Noel decided to work with Mark Coyle in producing the quality sound that was needed. Coyle was the live sound engineer hence the album's unique raw sound.

The album reached number 1 in Britain. Sold 2 million records in the UK along with going 7 times platinum and 1 million sales in the USA.

What's your favourite 90s album? Are you a fan of Definitely Maybe? What should be the next 90s album of the week? Let me know all of your opinions below in the comment section!
