Today In Music History!

22nd of September in Music History

On this day in 1985 Dire Straits got their first US No.1 single with "Money For Nothing" from the iconic album Brothers In Arms. The song comes from the point of view of two working class people disapproving of MTV and what shows they're broadcasting.
The album also homed the hit "Walk Of Life" , another personal favorite there.

September 22nd was also the day "Creep" graciously met the airways by the English rock band Radiohead. This song was hated by the composer and guitarist Jonny Greenwood, who famously tried to sabotage the song by repeatedly viciously strumming the muted guitar before the chorus. Much to Greenwoods disgust this only added to peoples love for this song.
The British rock/pop band The Hollies later took Radiohead to court for copyright issues over the similarities between "Creep" and The Hollies "The Air That I Breathe ". Comically enough Radiohead would later take Lana Del Ray up on releasing a song that was very similar to "Creep".

Listen to the three songs here and tell me what you think in the comment section. Are they alike? Which version do you think is the best?
